Materials

Since 1947, Collégien has carefully selected each material for its softness and quality, to offer you the best comfort every day.

Egyptian cotton

We select an exceptional Egyptian cotton, Giza 45, recognised as one of the finest cotton qualities in the world. Its long, fine fibres, carefully combed and OEKO-TEX certified, give it unmatched softness and great durability.

This knitted cotton doesn't pill and keeps all its softness against the skin, wash after wash. Cool, sturdy and refined, it's a rare material we choose for its durability.

ORGANIC COTTON (GOTS)

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the most demanding textile eco-label in the world for organic cotton. This certification requires independent inspection at every stage of production, from growing the fibre to making the finished product — a true guarantee of trust for more responsible fashion.

Our Juliette range, in openwork knit, is the first of our collections knitted from BIO-GOTS certified cotton yarns. We are currently testing all our styles in this material, with the aim of gradually extending GOTS certification to more of our cotton ranges.

Merino wool

Sourced from Merino sheep, our Merino wool is a natural, biodegradable and eco-friendly fibre. We select a fine 19.5 micron yarn, certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100, originating from Australia.

Soft and non-irritating, this wool doesn't itch or cause irritation. It naturally regulates temperature: it keeps you warm without making you sweat, doesn't retain odours thanks to its antibacterial properties, and dries quickly. Its elastic fibre allows your socks and tights to keep their shape wash after wash.

Superwash-treated, our Merino wool is machine washable and suits everyday use, in every season.

An ethical commitment: our Merino wool is certified Mulesing Free, a label that guarantees the sheep were raised with respect for their welfare, with no mulesing practices.

Wool and cashmere

Cashmere is a noble fibre, from the fine down of the Cashmere goat, long renowned for its unmatched softness and lightness. We blend it with wool and other carefully chosen fibres, for a mix that combines the softness of cashmere with better long-term hold.

Warm without being thick, this enveloping material is perfect for the cooler seasons: it insulates effectively against the cold while staying light and soft against the skin. It's our cosiest material, ideal for adding a touch of softness to an outfit, or for extending comfort at home.

Contrary to popular belief, wool and cashmere wash very well in the machine, in cold water with a suitable detergent, to keep all their softness wash after wash.

Scottish yarn, the lightness of cotton

Fil d'Écosse is a fine, mercerised cotton, treated to be shinier, softer and more durable, while keeping the lightness typical of cotton. Its smooth fibre lets air circulate better and gives a feeling of coolness against the skin.

Particularly breathable, our Fil d'Écosse socks are ideal for the warmer seasons, from spring to summer, dressing up both everyday and smarter outfits.
